Fourth Estate Creates Citizen Advisory Board
The Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corporation has formed a Citizen Advisory Board to collaboratively advocate for the interests of the news consuming public within the organization.
Jeff Brown, founder and executive director of the Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corporation, called the board an important and necessary first step to “give journalism’s consumers a seat at the same news-desk with the various stakeholder groups of the Fourth Estate”
The Citizen board will:
- provide guidance and be the voice of the news consuming public to the leadership of the Fourth Estate,
- review and comment on the development and implementation of the Fourth Estate’s activities from the perspective of the public,
- be a vocal advocate for the news consuming public to the other stakeholder groups of the Fourth Estate.
The following individuals have been named to board:
Mimi Johnson Buttry: A former newspaper reporter for the Shenandoah (Iowa) Evening Sentinel and a columnist for the Shawnee (Kan.) Journal Herald and the Minot (N.D.) Daily News, Mrs Buttry is a freelance writer who has contributed to several newspapers, including the Washington Post and Omaha World-Herald.
Bill Bathurst: A successful managing real estate broker with Golden Bear Realty in Delray Beach, Florida. Mr. Bathurst spent almost 20 years as a Brand and Business Unit Manager for Fortune 500 companies followed by founding his own businesses.
